Brooklyn Noell-babaCo-op Ambassador:
Brooklyn Noell-baba

Major: Mechanical Engineering
Graduation Date: May 2021
Co-op Company: Michelin

Why did you decide to co-op?
I decided to co-op because I wanted to be able to apply what I was learning in class and gain work experience before graduating.

What types of projects did you work on?
Typically, I worked on mechanical engineering projects such as designing parts for the machinery used in the retread process. Along with my mechanical engineering projects, I also got sales/field exposure, which included shadowing a territory manager and a business manager along with other things.

Describe your relationship with your mentor(s) and other colleagues:
My mentor also studied at Clemson and interned with Michelin in the past, so she knew exactly how to give me the guidance I needed. She went above and beyond to make sure that I got the most out of my rotation. Along with my mentor, I really loved working with all of my other colleagues. I learned so much from all of them and they were always happy to spend time helping me.

What was your most memorable moment on assignment?
One of the most memorable moments for me was getting to go to the Laurens Proving Grounds and drive different cars on the test tracks. Another very memorable moment for me was getting to travel to San Diego to shadow a territory business manager.

What aspect of your co-op assignment do you feel will be the most beneficial after you graduate?
Having a year of work experience under my belt will be so beneficial to me after I graduate. Along with making me more appealing to recruiters, it will also show me what to expect when I get a full time job.

What advice do you have for other students looking to complete the co-op program?
Push yourself out of your comfort zone. Make sure you make the most out of your co-op by asking questions, spending time with your colleagues, and learning as much as possible
