Please email our staff at cucareercenter@gmail.com
If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please notify our office 24 hours in advance. This allows our staff to offer your appointment time to another student, who is in need of our services. Failure to cancel your appointment within 24 hours, more than once, will result in losing your appointment privileges for the semester; however, you may still utilize our drop-in services. As of right now, we plan to run the UPIC (on-campus) and stateside internship programs as regularly scheduled. The summer 2021 international internship program has been cancelled due to the university’s international travel restrictions. UPIC (on-campus) and stateside internship programs follow the academic calendar and are subject to any university mandates or calendar updates.
On-campus and off-campus interns should follow the protocols set forth by their host site. While on campus, face-coverings are required in all buildings and classrooms. Face-coverings are also required in outdoor spaces where physical distance cannot be guaranteed. If a mentor does not have a face-covering or refuses to wear an approved face-covering without valid accommodation, UPIC interns should notify the UPIC office. If an intern does not have a face-covering or refuses to wear an approved face-covering without valid accommodation, the mentor may ask the intern to leave the site and should inform the UPIC office. The UPIC office may report the mentor’s actions to their immediate supervisor and may report a student’s actions to the Office of Community and Ethical Standards as a violation of the Student Code of Conduct.
Interns should continue working off-site in the event an internship site requests employees to work remotely. We ask that mentors seek creative options with the student interns and develop duties that can be performed during a period of modified operations (training manuals and videos, significant projects that were previously on hold, reports and benchmarking projects, etc.).
Some student interns may have personal health concerns or may not feel safe or comfortable returning to an on-site internship environment, and they might make a request to continue to work remotely. We ask that mentors, supervisors, and teaching partners give all requests and proposals consideration during this challenging time.
Since many interns may need to continue to work remotely, please consider establishing a regular email routine, WebEx/Zoom check-ins, or Skype calls. Mentors and interns will continue to need to be aware of the work performed, intern/mentor expectations, and signature requirements for timesheets and other documentation.
